2004-2011 Volvo S40 Maintenance Service Light Reset Guide – The Volvo S40 is a middle-class passenger car produced by the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo. There have been two series of this car, the first of which was launched in 1995, while the second is dated 2004. Since 2012 the S40 is no longer produced.

Introduced in 2004, the second generation of the S40 is based on the Ford C1 platform (on which the Ford Focus and Mazda 3 are also based) and is built at the Ghent plant in Belgium. The family version took the name of Volvo V50.

When the Maintenance Overdue message appears in the display, it’s time for regular service at the workshop. The system must be reset after performed the maintenance service on your vehicle. Here is how to reset the maintenance light on 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 Volvo S40:

  1. Turn off the ignition and open the driver’s door

    Make sure your vehicle is stopped in a safe place

  2. Place the ignition to the position I

    If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, keep the remote key into the ignition slot, press the START/STOP ENGINE once

  3. Trip mode needs to be on TRIP 1 or T1

    Press the TRIP button on cluster to select the trip mode
    maintenance service light reset

  4. Hold down the TRIP button and then place the ignition to the position II

    If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, keep press the TRIP button while holding the START/STOP ENGINE for 2 seconds

  5. Keep hold the TRIP button until the ⓘ indicator blinks

    Release the Trip button when the ⓘ indicator flash 3 times

  6. Verify the indicator has been reset by shut off the car and then starting the engine

    Done!
