Hey, what’s up, guys! Today we’re working on a 2013 Cadillac XTS, and I’m going to show you how to reset the oil life or oil change light for this car.

There are two ways to do it. The first way is with the instrument cluster and the buttons on the steering wheel, and the other way is by stepping the Gas pedal.

Now to reset the engine oil life system is what we’re going to do here. This is going to be on a 2013 Cadillac XTS here but it will be the same in several different years (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019).

With Gas Pedal

Time needed: 3 minutes

To reset the oil life on this car, just push the accelerator pedal three times in quick succession. So this is how you do it:

  1. Place the ignition to the RUN position without starting the engine

If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, hold down the START/STOP button without stepping the brake pedal

  2. Fully depress the GAS pedal, three times within 5 seconds

Don’t rush, make sure you press it fully

  3. Turn off the ignition

Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once

  4. Verify the indicator has been reset by starting the engine

    Done!

With Steering Button

You may also reset the oil by utilizing the cluster display’s Oil Life option. Here’s how to go about it:

  • First, turn on the ignition without starting the engine
  • Then we’re gonna go to your display on the dash and you’re going to use these controls right here to change your selection. So you can use your right arrow to go all the way to the right screen

  • Next, you’re going to scroll down until you see OIL LIFE
  • After that, you’re just going to hold in the SEL button here for about five seconds and that will reset it
