The Easy Way To Reset Oil Life On Chevy Silverado (2007-2022)

Hello, trucker! I recently changed the oil in my truck, but the change in general light still comes on, on my dashboard. So now I’m going to show you how easy it is to reset the oil life or change the engine oil light on this Chevy Silverado.
So we’re working on all Silverado. I’ve seen many videos online, but some of them seem to not cover some particular model. I made this post and I think it’s going to help some of you will need that. So let’s figure out how to get this oil light reset.

How To Reset Oil Life On Chevy Silverado
Warning! Please note your vehicle model. This tutorial will hold true for the second, third, and fourth generations of the Chevrolet Silverado (2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 2022 model years).
Gas Pedal Method (2007-2022)
Resetting the oil light on this car is as simple as pressing the GAS pedal all the way down. So within five seconds after putting the key in the accessory position, step on the accelerator pedal three times to the floor.
Surely this isn’t too difficult, right? So that’s the quickest and most efficient method to reset the oil life for all model years of this truck.
2007-2013 Silverado
In addition to pressing the gas pedal, you may also utilize the following ways based on your car’s trim level.
Trip Button Method
- First, jump in your car and turn the ignition on
- Then via this button here, first of all, you twist it to let’s say to the right it doesn’t matter, and go through the various options until you get to the OIL LIFE
- Next, you would press inwards and it says are you sure you want to reset
- Turn it again one more little click to get YES and then push it in to accept it so that is it done
With DIC Button
- First insert the key and put the ignition on
- So you have the menus button here and we’ll press the little car with the i for information till you can see OIL LIFE Remaining on screen
- To reset that, we’re gonna go ahead and just press down on the checkmark for about five seconds and it will change to 100%
2014-2018 Silverado
Base Level
So for the model that doesn’t really have any keys on the steering, you just going to be using the button on the cluster like the older model.
- First, we’re gonna turn your ignition to the on position without turning the engine on
- To begin, you can turn the knob and it’ll go up through the motions there to get the OIL LIFE
- After that, we’re going to go ahead and hold the knob down until it says are you sure you want to reset
- Then we just literally just scroll to go up to the YES and hold down it so it goes up to 100%
Uplevel
- First, you gotta start the car
- Then use the right side multifunction buttons and scroll to the left
- Make sure you’re in INFO and hit the ✓ button
- Next, scroll down until you see OIL LIFE
- Once you get there, you’re gonna press and hold the ✓ button until you hear the beep and that’ll be the reset procedure
2019-2022 Silverado
Base Display
- In the same manner as its predecessors, you must first turn the knob to view the OIL LIFE shown on the LCD screen
- Then, hold the knob down until a message appears asking whether you’re sure you want to reset
- After that, we then scroll up to the YES and hit the button until it reaches 100%
Uplevel Display
Time needed: 3 minutes
Alright, we got the new Silverado with an uplevel display here. If this is what your steering wheel and cluster look like, this is how you reset the oil life.
- Turn on your car
First, turn your ignition to the accessory position without starting the car
- Get to the i menu
So then you want to do is you want to push the right button until we’re on the i for information
- Come down to the OIL LIFE
Now we’re going to scroll down by roll the wheel and we’re going to come down until we find the OIL LIFE and you see it says ✓ reset
- Hold in the scroll button
After that, we’re just going to push the wheel and hold it so it’ll reset to 100%
What if I don’t see the oil life on the screen?
Now here’s a problem with these cars when you scroll down through here and this doesn’t show up.
- So what you have to do is you have to go to the ⚙️ gear option which is clicked over to the right
- Then you have to come down to the info pages and press the wheel
- From there, see how there are checkmarks you have to make sure that the OIL LIFE is checked here. If this is not checked here it’s not going to show up on the info screen to be reset
