Reset Guide: Audi A3 Oil Service Reminder Light (2008-2021) – The Audi A3 is a C-segment passenger car produced by the German car manufacturer Audi AG since 1996. Currently, this car model has reached its fourth generation.
Audi produced the first generation (8L) from 1996 to 2003, the second (8P / 8PA) from 2003 to 2013, the third (8V) from 2012 to 2020, and the fourth (8Y) starting in 2020. The new A3 Sedan was unveiled on April 21, 2020, with the front fascia similar to that of the A3 Sportback.

The inspection or service reminder message will appears in the display after driving a certain distance. You need perform an oil change and reset the system interval. Depending on your vehicle model, here are a few ways to reset the service light on Audi A3:
2nd Generation (8P)
Time needed: 7 minutes
In the 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 Audi A3 model years, you can reset the service interval through the cluster display. Here’s how to do it:
- Place the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine
If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, press the ENGINE START/STOP button without pressing the brake pedal
- Pull the knob once to enter the reset mode
The button is located on the instrument cluster
- Pull and hold the knob until —- appears on the screen
Pull up the knob for several seconds
- Verify the indicator has been reset by starting the engine
Done!
3rd Generation (8V)
In this third generation (2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020), you can reset the inspection or service reminder through the multimedia display. Here’s how to do it:
With Infotainment Display 1
- Place the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine
- Press the MENU button on the center console
- Select CAR or VEHICLE by using the dial control
- Select SYSTEM menu by pressing the left control button
- Select SERVICE & CHECKS
- Select SERVICE INTERVAL
- Select RESET OIL CHANGE INTERVAL
- Select YES when a confirmation message appears
With Infotainment Display 2
- Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
- Press the MENU button on the centre console
- Select CAR or VEHICLE by using the dial control
- Press the left control button
- Select SERVICE & CHECKS
- Select SERVICE INTERVAL
- Select RESET OIL CHANGE INTERVAL
- Select YES to execute the service interval reset
4th Generation (8Y)
Just like the previous generation, you can reset the service interval via multimedia display (MMI) in this fifth generation (2020 2021 2022). Here’s how to get started:
- Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
- From the main menu tap the VEHICLE or CAR menu on the touchscreen
- Select SETTINGS & SERVICE
- Select SERVICE INTERVAL
- Select RESET OIL CHANGE INTERVAL
- Select YES to execute the service interval reset
