Last Updated on July 9, 2021 by Christ
Hey, what’s up, everybody. Today we will be working on a Volkswagen Golf, so we’re going to be doing an oil change and service on it, and I’ll show you how I reset the lights without a scanner.
I’m sure there’s another way to do it, but that’s just the easy way. I know how to do it on most cars as an automatic function. So this is just another short piece of content on how to get rid of that annoying service light in your vehicle flashing up on your dashboard.

Golf MK7 (2013-2019)
Time needed: 3 minutes
So you’ll notice when you start up your Golf MK7 that there might be this oil change now with an exclamation point warning on the screen. And now I’ll show you how to get that to go away.
- Switch off the car
Make sure the engine is off and you close all the doors
- Hold down the 0.0 button while turn on the ignition
Use the 0.0 button in the in the center just below the screen. You just hold that down as you’re starting the car and that will bring up a quick prompt screen
- Press the 0.0 button once
When RESET OIL CHANGE INTERVAL? appears, release the button and then press the 0.0 button again to reset it
Inspection Light Reset
Do the same thing now for the inspection warning light.
- Turn the ignition off and hold down the 0.0 button
- Turn the ignition on but keep it held down bit longer until the RESET INSPECTION INTERVAL? comes up
- Let go the 0.0 button then press it in again and now they have both been reset
Golf MK8 (2020-2021)
There is a hidden menu to reset the inspection or service light on the Golf MK8. You need a little trick to enter the Service menu on this latest Golf. And here’s how to do it:
- Turn on your car
- Find the DRIVING TIME/DISTANCE menu
- Once you get there you need to press and hold the ◄or► button on the steering wheel for about 5 seconds
- Release the button and you’ll see the service mode
- From there you can RESET INSPECTION or RESET OIL SERVICE
So that’s pretty much it, so I hope this content helps. If you know of anybody that you think this would help or benefit from, please share. I appreciate your time, you guys. Thanks so much for reading, take care and bye.
Hope this golf 8 method works with New Caddy. Will return with answer soon thank you
