How To Program Idle Air Volume On The Nissan 370Z – When compared with the regular version of the Nissan 370Z, 370Z Nismo has a longer dimension of about 6.2 inches. Before attempting any of the following procedures, it is advisable that you read through the instructions thoroughly and familiarize yourself with them. A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.

Preparation:
Make sure that all of the following conditions are satisfied!
- Battery voltage: More than 12.9 V (At idle)
- Engine coolant temperature: 70 – 100°C (158 – 212°F)
- Selector lever : P or N
- Electric load switch: OFF (Air conditioner, headlamp, rear window defogger) On vehicles equipped with daytime running light systems, set lighting switch to the 1st position to light only small lamps.
- Steering wheel: Neutral (Straight-ahead position)
- Vehicle speed: Stopped
- Transmission: Warmed-up
How To Program Idle Air Volume On The Nissan 370Z:
Before performing the Idle Air Volume Learning, make sure you have already performed the ‘Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning’ and ‘Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning’. Perform the following procedures within the specified time! Because timing is extremely critical.
Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning Procedure:
- Make sure that the accelerator pedal is fully released.
- Turn ignition “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
- Turn ignition “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
- Turn ignition “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
- Turn ignition “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning Procedures:
- Make sure that the accelerator pedal is fully released.
- Turn the ignition “ON”.
- Turn the ignition “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
- Make sure that the throttle valve moves during the above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound.
Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning):
Time needed: 17 minutes
- After you have already performed the 2 other tasks above, start the engine and warm it up
- Turn the ignition “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds
- The accelerator pedal is fully released and turn the ignition key to position “ON” without starting the engine and wait 3 seconds.
- Fully press and release the accelerator pedal five times within 5 seconds.
- Wait 7 seconds
- Fully depress the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and hold for 20 seconds until the CEL stops blinking and turned ON.
- Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is stopped blinking) and wait about 3 seconds.
- Start the engine and let it idle.
- Wait 20 seconds.
- Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.
