5th Generation (2008-2009)

The fifth generation of Ford Taurus was marketed from 2008 to 2009. Here’s how to reset the engine oil life on the Ford Taurus fifth generation.

  1. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine

    Make sure the vehicle completely stops

  2. Press the SETUP button briefly until “OIL LIFE =% HOLD RESET = NEW” appears on the screen

    The button is located on the steering wheel

  3. Press the RESET button for 2 seconds and release to reset the oil life to 100%.

    Done!

6th Generation (2010-2019)

The sixth generation is the last models of the Ford Taurus in the US market. This generation was introduced since 2010 and got a facelift in 2013. Depending on your vehicle trim level, here are how to reset the engine oil life on the Ford Taurus sixth generation.

With Setup Button

Just like the previous generation, you can reset the oil by using the Setup and Reset buttons. But in this generation the button is located on the instrument panel. Here’s how to do it:

After turning on the ignition without starting the engine, press the SETUP button repeatedly until the “OIL LIFE % HOLD RESET = NEW” appears on the screen. Press and hold the RESET button for 2 seconds and release to reset the oil life to 100%.

With Steering Control Button

For 2013 models and above, your vehicle is equipped with multi-information display and control buttons on the steering wheel. Here’s how to reset the engine oil life on the Ford Taurus:

  • Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position
  • Find the SETTINGS menu by using the ▲▼ navigation button and press the OK button to select
  • Select VEHICLE or CONVENIENCE (for some models don’t need to go through this menu)
  • Select OIL LIFE RESET
  • Press and holds the OK button until “Reset Successful” appears on the screen
