Reset Guide: Volvo V50 Maintenance Service Light (2004-2012) – The Volvo V50 is a small/medium-sized family car model built by the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo. The Volvo was presented at the Bologna Motor Show in 2003, and its production began in 2004.

It is the family variant of the Volvo S40 and shares the Ford C1 platform with the Ford Focus and Mazda 3. In 2008, the V50 received a facelift, minor interior changes. Increased power and torque from the T5 engine, availability of the D5 engine, with the six-speed manual gearbox and a 1.8 cm³ engine.

Reset Guide: Volvo V50 Maintenance Service Light (2004-2012)

When the Maintenance Overdue message appears in the display, it’s time for regular service at the workshop. The system must be reset after performed the maintenance service on your vehicle. Depending on your vehicle model year, here are a few ways to reset the maintenance  light on Volvo V50:

2004-2007 Model Years

For vehicles made in 2007 you can reset the service light using the cluster button. Follow this steps:

  • Make sure your vehicle is stopped in a safe place
  • Place the ignition to the position I
  • Trip mode needs to be on TRIP 2 or T2
  • Hold down the TRIP button and then place the ignition to the position II
  • Keep holding the TRIP button until the ⚠️ indicator blinks
  • Verify the indicator has been reset by shut off the car and then starting the engine

2008-2012 Model Years

Time needed: 7 minutes

For vehicles made in 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 you can reset the service light as follows:

  1. Turn off the ignition and close all doors

    Make sure your vehicle is stopped in a safe place

  2. Place the ignition to the position I

    If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, keep the remote key into the ignition slot, press the START/STOP ENGINE button once

  3. Trip mode needs to be on TRIP 2 or T2

    Press the TRIP button on cluster to select the trip mode

  4. Hold down the TRIP button and then place the ignition to the position II

    If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, keep press the TRIP button while holding the START/STOP ENGINE button for 2 seconds

  5. Keep holding the TRIP button until the ⓘ indicator blinks

    Release the Trip button when the ⓘ indicator flashes 3 times

  6. Verify the indicator has been reset by shut off the car and then starting the engine

    Done!

If T2 doesn’t work, please try T1
