Reset Guide: Range Rover Service Required Light (2005-2021) – The Range Rover is an off-road car model produced by the British manufacturer Land Rover since 1970. The third series, known by the production name L322, was on sale from 2002 to 2011.

This generation was exploited by numerous components (such as electronics parts, control units, gearbox) with the BMW 5 Series E39. This car equipped with the automatic gearbox, initially a five-speed model engineered by BMW.

Reset Guide: Range Rover Service Required Light (2005-2021)

When you exceed the next scheduled service interval, the Service Required message will display in the screen. This indicator system must be reset after performed the maintenance on your Land Rover Range Rover. Depending on your vehicle model years, here are a few ways to reset the service required light:

L322 (2005-2011)

This is the third generation of the Land Rover Range Rover. In this generation, you can access the reset mode via the Trip button. Here’s how to do it:

  • Press and hold the TRIP button
  • Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
  • Keep hold the TRIP button until SERVICE message appears and start flashing
  • Release the button when the SERVICE message stop flashing
  • Press and hold the TRIP button again until Service Reset appears on the display
  • Turn off the ignition and then start the engine to confirm the service light has been reset

L405 (2012-2021)

Time needed: 7 minutes

Different from the previous generation, you can reset the service light using the gas and brake pedals for this latest model. Follow this step to get started:

  1. Open the bonnet (hood) and close all doors

    Make sure your vehicle stops in a safe place

  2. Place the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine

    If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, press the START/STOP button once without pressing the brake pedal

  3. Open the driver’s door

    Make sure you open driver’s-side door

  4. Fully depress and hold the BRAKE and GAS pedals for 30 seconds

    On the new model, the “Service Resetting” message will appears in the display

  5. Turn off the ignition

    Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once

  6. Verify the indicator has been reset by starting the engine

    Done!

    • Does work but you need to hold down both peddles for 60 seconds (chiming will stop before 60sec)
      Tried to restart but would not, closed bonnet and closed driver's door and it restarted.
      the break peddle won't have any free travel after been held down for 60 sec but will restore to normal once started.
