Reset Guide: Lexus ES Oil Maintenance Required Light (2007-2021) – The Lexus ES is a mid-range sedan produced by the Japanese car manufacturer Lexus since 1989. The maintenance required light on a Lexus ES comes on every 4,500 miles or 7500 kilometers, and it’s a reminder for you to change the engine oil.

So you’re getting the oil maintenance required light after an oil change? Don’t worry! I’m going to show you how to reset the maintenance light, and this process will work not just on the old generation but in any Lexus ES vehicle that you’re in.

How To Reset Oil Maintenance Required Light on Lexus ES300h / ES350

5th Generation (2007-2012)

Time needed: 3 minutes

Today we have a 2007 Lexus ES350 i’m going to show you how to reset the oil maintenance light in this vehicle. It’s really simple to do, the first thing you should to do is:

  1. Turn on your car without starting the engine

    Press the start button twice but make sure your foot is not on the break

  2. Set your odometer is on the TRIP A

    Use TRIP button on the instrument cluster to change it to TRIP A

  3. Turn off your car

    Press the start button once

  4. Hold down the TRIP button and press the start button twice to turn your car back on

    MAINT REQD RESET MODE message will appears on the screen

  5. Keep hold the button until you get all the zero showing and then it is reset

    Done!

6th Generation (2013-2015)

In this segment we’ll resetting the maintenance light on a 2013 2014 2015 Lexus ES 300h, this one’s pretty simple

  • First, turn your car either on or turn in accessory mode
  • Make sure the odometer is on TRIP A by using the ODO/TRIP button on the instrument panel
  • Then we’re gonna go ahead and shut it back off
  • Then we are going to hold the ODO/TRIP button while turn on the ignition again
  • Continue to hold the button and it will reset

7th Generation (2016-2021)

It’s pretty simple to reset the maintenance light on this 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 2021 model years. I had to go through the manual, and you can found it for yourself; if you still have, it’s on page 435 for scheduled maintenance, the exact steps you have to follow for oil maintenance. Here we go, so the first thing you want to do is:

  • With foot off the brake pedal press the Power button twice
  • There’s a menu at the top of the display, you’re going to scroll over with that menu until you get on to the ⚙️ (gear)
  • Then you’re gonna scroll down to VEHICLE SETTINGS and press the center button
  • That will brings you up to the Scheduled Maintenance or Oil Maintenance menu
  • Press the center button to select one from the menu
  • When a “RESET DATA?” appears, select YES to execute the maintenance reset

So there you go, if you change your oil yourself you need to reset the oil maintenance but if you just scheduled maintenance like tire rotation you need too reset scheduled maintenance in this menu. All right, thanks for reading I’ll catch you on the next one.
