With Brake & Gas Pedal
Time needed: 7 minutes
Follow the steps below to reset the oil life on your Ford F450:
- Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, press the ENGINE START/STOP button once without pressing the brake pedal
- Depress the Brake and Accelerator pedals at the same time
Fully press both pedals for about 25 seconds
- Keep holding both pedals until a message confirming that the reset is complete appears on the screen
This message confirms that the reset procedure was completed correctly.
- Release the pedals and switch off the ignition

Display Controls Type 1
Follow the steps below if your vehicle is equipped with multi-information display and control buttons on the steering wheel.
- Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position
- Find the SETTINGS menu by using the ▲▼ navigation button and press the OK button to select
- Select VEHICLE
- Select OIL LIFE RESET
- Press and holds the OK button until “Reset Successful” appears on the screen

After turning on the ignition without starting the engine, press the SETUP button repeatedly until the “OIL LIFE % HOLD RESET = NEW” appears on the screen. Press and hold the RESET button for 2 seconds and release to reset the oil life to 100%.
4th Generation (2017-2021)
The fourth generation is today’s latest models, this generation was introduced since 2017. Depending on your vehicle trim level, here are how to reset the engine oil life on the Ford F450 fourth generation.
With 2″ Display Menu
- Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position
- Find the SETTINGS menu by using the navigation button and press the OK button to select
- Select VEHICLE
- Select OIL LIFE RESET
- Press and holds the OK button until “Reset Successful” appears on the screen
With 4″ Display Menu
- Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position
- Find the SETTINGS menu tab by using the navigation button
- Scroll down and select ADVANCED SETTINGS
- Select VEHICLE
- Select OIL LIFE RESET
- Press and holds the OK button until “Reset Complete” appears on the screen
With 8″ Display Menu
- Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position
- Go to the TRUCK INFO tab menu by using the ◄ ► navigation button
- Scroll down to MAINTENANCE MONITOR and press the OK button to select
- Select OIL LIFE
- Press and holds the OK button until “Reset Successful” appears on the screen
