Reset Guide: Buick Regal Oil Life Light (2011-20201) – The Buick Regal is a luxury car produced by Buick since 1973. In November 2009, General Motors presented the fifth generation of Regal for the North American market in Los Angeles. This Regal series is based on the Opel Insignia A.

It was then launched at the end of 2010 for the 2011 model year. It was available with only one type of engine at the debut, namely a four-cylinder in-line 2.4-L displacement and 182 horsepower. A supercharged 2L 220hp in-line four-cylinder power unit has been available since 2010.

Reset Guide: Buick Regal Oil Life Light (2011-2020)

When the system has calculated that oil life has exceeded the specified service interval, a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message will come on. You must perform an oil change on your vehicle and reset the system. Depending on your vehicle model, here are a few ways to reset the oil life light on 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 Buick Regal.

5th Generation

The fifth generation of Buick Regal was marketed from 2011 to 2017 in US market. Depending on the model year of your vehicle, there are 2 ways to reset oil life in this generation.

2011-2013 Model Years

Time needed: 7 minutes

Follow these instructions if your vehicle is made in 2011-2013 and is equipped with a DIC button on the turn signal lever.

  1. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine

    If your car equipped with ignition button, press and hold the Start/Stop button for 5 seconds without touch the brake pedal

  2. Press the MENU button briefly until “VEHICLE INFORMATION” appears on the screen

    The button is located on the turn signal lever

  3. Scroll down and find OIL LIFE menu

    Use the band to scroll through the menu

  4. Press and hold the SET/CLR button until Oil Life 100% appears on the screen

    The sound of chimes will be heard

  5. Verify the indicator has been reset by starting the engine

    Done!

2014-2017 Model Years

In 2014 the Buick Regal got a facelift and the DIC button was placed on the steering wheel. Follow the instructions below to reset the oil life:

  • Turn on the ignition
  • Press the ◄ navigation button to enter the cluster app
  • Select INFO
  • Find the OIL LIFE menu by using the ▲▼ navigation button
  • Press and hold the ✓ button to execute the oil life reset

6th Generation (2018-2020)

This is the last generation of the Buick Regal. Just like the previous generation, you can reset the oil life via the DIC menu. Here’s how to do it:

  • Turn on the ignition
  • Go to VEHICLE tab menu by using the ◄ ► navigation button
  • Find the OIL LIFE menu by using the ▲▼ navigation button
  • Press and hold the ✓ button to execute the oil life reset
