2005 Ford Excursion Fuel Pump Inertia Switch Location – Ford Excursion is a full-size sports and utility vehicle produced by Ford from 2000-2005. Designed based on the Super Duty model, it was then the largest Ford SUV, its main rival in the segment was Chevrolet Suburban.

V8 and V10 engines were used for the drive, the power was transferred to the rear wheels (optional AWD) via a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. After production in 2005, Excursion was replaced by an extended version of the Expedition model. In Brazil, still in production is the Ford F-250 Tropivan Plus, which structurally is also based on the floorplan Super Duty model.

The fuel pump shut-off (inertia) switch is a device that stops the fuel pump of the fuel delivery to the engine. If your engine cranks but does not start, this switch may have been activated. Here’s how to find and reset the switch:

  1. On the Ford Excursion, the fuel pump shut-off switch is located in the front passenger’s footwell, behind the kick panel access cover. May you need to remove the lower scuff plate to access the switch

  2. Make sure to turn off your vehicle

  3. Pushing in the Fuel pump shut-off (inertia) switch

  4. Turn the ignition to the ON position (Do not turn the ignition to ‘START) and wait a few seconds and return the key to off position.

Warning! Do not reset the fuel system shut-off switch if you see or smell fuel from the fuel system.
