Cadillac SRX: How To Reset Oil Life Light After an Oil Change (2004-2016) – The SRX is a mid-size crossover SUV manufactured by Cadillac from 2004 to 2016. The SRX was the best-selling Cadillac model in the United States in 2010 and 2011.
The engines available for this SRX series were the 3.6 L displacement 255hp V6 LY7 HFV6 and the Northstar 4.6L 325hp V8 LH2. The engine was mounted at the front. This series was based on General Motors’ Sigma GMT265 platform.

Cadillac SRX: How To Reset Oil Life Light After an Oil Change (2004-2016)
When the system has calculated that oil life has exceeded the specified service interval, a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message will come on. You must perform an oil change on your vehicle and reset the system. Depending on your vehicle model, here are a few ways to reset the oil life light on 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 Cadillac SRX:
1st Generation (2004-2009)
The first generation of Cadillac SRX was marketed from 2004 to 2009. There are two ways to reset oil life in this generation, namely through the DIC button and audio display. Choose one of the following methods according to your vehicle specifications:
Wih DIC Button
Time needed: 7 minutes
Follow these instructions if your vehicle is equipped with a DIC button:
- Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
Make sure the vehicle completely stops
- Press the VEHICLE INFO button briefly until “OIL LIFE REMAINING” appears on the screen
The button is located on the instrument panel
- Press and hold the ✓ button until Oil Life 100% appears on the screen
The CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message will go off and the sound of chimes will be heard
- Verify the indicator has been reset by starting the engine
Done!
With Audio System
- Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
- Press the ▲INFO▼ button repeatedly until ENGINE OIL LIFE menu appears on the display
- Press and hold the CLR button to execute the oil life reset
- Verify the indicator has been reset by starting the engine
2nd Generation (2010-2016)
In this generation there are 3 ways to reset oil life. Choose one of the following methods according to your vehicle trim level:
With Turn Signal Lever
- Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
- Press the MENU button briefly until “VEHICLE INFORMATION” appears on the screen
- Scroll down and find OIL LIFE menu by using the band
- Press and hold the SET/CLR button until Oil Life 100% appears on the screen
- Verify the indicator has been reset by starting the engine
With Steering Button
- Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
- Access the INFORMATION display by using the ◄or► navigation button
- Find the OIL LIFE menu by using the navigation ▲or▼ button
- Press and hold down the SEL button to reset the oil life at 100%
- Verify the indicator has been reset by starting the engine
With Gas Pedal
- Place the ignition to the RUN position without starting the engine
- Fully depress the GAS pedal, three times within 5 seconds
- Turn off the ignition
- Verify the indicator has been reset by starting the engine

I tried to reset using the guide, with gas pedal but didn’t work. Is there a way to remove “dismiss” which appears in left bottom of the screen so I can start over? Please advise.
