Reset Guide: Volkswagen Touareg Service/Inspection Light (2005-2021)

Whaddup bro? Today, I will be showing you how to reset the service or inspection light on a Volkswagen Touareg. First, a bit of my car, I just picked this up at the end of February 2020. It’s a Volkswagen Touareg, and it was a leftover from the 2019 model year. Recently the dash started popping up with the notification saying that it’s due for an oil change despite only having 4600 miles.

By the way, what I need to tell you is with synthetic oil, you can go up to ten thousand miles, but I don’t recommend it. I want to go as far as five thousand if you’re going to keep your engine nice and healthy. But the Volkswagen says it’s okay to use the premium synthetic oil to go up to ten thousand miles, but guess what I don’t recommend, especially if you have a German car because it’s expensive to repair. So let’s go-ahead to reset the service minder.

  • Shut the car off
  • Hold the 0.0 button down and then you turn the ignition on without start the engine
  • Wait till it comes up and says SERVICE RESET on the cluster
  • Now you let off the button and then you press the OK button on steering wheel so the service interval was reset

Touareg 7P (2010-2017)

It’s pretty easy to reset the service interval on a Volkswagen Touareg 7P. We can reset it via the infotainment display. So here’s how it’s done!

  • Put on the ignition and turn on the infotainment display
  • Push the CAR button to bring you to the car menu
  • Go to the SERVICE menu on the screen
  • Select RESET SERVICE INTERVAL
  • Tap RESET to execute the service reset

Touareg CR (2018-2021)

Time needed: 3 minutes

On the Volkswagen Touareg CR models you’re going to have two different types of oil notifications. One of them is going to be a service interval light and the other one is going to be an inspection light. So let’s get into it now.

  1. Start the car up

Turn the car all the way on and so the lights are on

  2. Go to the DRIVING DATA

Then we have to use the ◄ or ► button on right side of the steering wheel to scroll over the menu and find the DRIVING DATA

  3. Find the RANGE

Scroll down to RANGE and hit OK

  4. Hold down the OK button

Once we reached the RANGE screen we need to hold the OK button for 5 seconds

  5. Release the button

After that let go the button and you’ll see the SERVICE MENU

  6. Select RESET OIL SERVICE or RESET INSPECTION

Now you can select RESET OIL SERVICE or RESET INSPECTION from this menu

So yeah, that’s about it, guys. I’ve done the service, and I’ve reset the service light. So that’s you’re done by yourself, now you might be wondering why would I do it myself when it doesn’t cost all that much air a mechanic or a shop, that may be true, but I mean it’s about the joy of doing it yourself and you still saving money. Anyway, thanks very much for reading, and have a good day.
