Yup ..2016 bought 7 days ago and will not open. Time to return.
Mine also do not open or close. Just bought it 2016. I am far from home it keeps beeping.
It may be disabled. Open the glove box and look for a button to the left of the glove box opening. Press the button and try the lift gate again. Good luck!
