When you exceed the next scheduled oil change interval, the Oil Change Required light will display in the screen. This indicator system must be reset after performed the maintenance on your vehicle. Depending on your vehicle model, here are a few ways to reset the oil light on 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee:

With Gas Pedal

The fastest way to reset the oil light on all Jeep car models is by pressing the gas pedal. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Place the ignition to the RUN position without starting the engine
  2. Fully depress the GAS pedal, three times within 10 seconds
  3. Turn off the ignition
  4. Verify the indicator has been reset by starting the engine

With Cluster Display

Time needed: 7 minutes

For the 2016 model year vehicles or above, you can also reset the oil through the instrument cluster by using the steering control button. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Place the ignition to the RUN position without starting the engine

    If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, press the ENGINE START/STOP button twice without pressing the brake pedal

  2. Go to the VEHICLE INFO by using the ▼navigation button

    The button is located on the steering wheel

  3. Scroll to the OIL LIFE menu

    Use the ◄ ►navigation button to scroll

  4. Press and hold the OK button to execute the oil life reset

    Done!
