Reset Guide: Buick LaCrosse Oil Life Oil Change Light (2005-2019) – The LaCrosse is a luxurious passenger car produced by Buick. In North America, it replaced the Buick Century. In Canada, the model is marketed as Buick Allure.

The LaCrosse made its debut in late 2004 for the 2005 model year. Based on General Motors’ W floor, the first series of the LaCrosse was initially available with two powertrain choices and three trim levels.

Reset Guide: Buick LaCrosse Oil Life Oil Change Light (2005-2019)

When the system has calculated that oil life has exceeded the specified service interval, a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message will come on. You must perform an oil change on your vehicle and reset the system. Depending on your vehicle model, here are a few ways to reset the oil life light on Buick LaCrosse.

1st Generation (2005-2009)

The first generation of Buick LaCrosse was marketed from 2005 to 2009. In this generation you reset the oil life by depressing the GAS pedal three times within 10 seconds after turning on the ignition without starting the engine.

2nd Generation (2010-2015)

Time needed: 7 minutes

The second generation of Buick LaCrosse was marketed from 2010 to 2015. In this generation you reset the oil life in the following ways:

  1. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine

    If your car equipped with ignition button, press and hold the Start/Stop button for 5 seconds without touch the brake pedal

  2. Press the MENU button briefly until “VEHICLE INFORMATION” appears on the screen

    The button is located on the turn signal lever

  3. Scroll down and find OIL LIFE menu

    Use the band to scroll through the menu

  4. Press and hold the SET/CLR button until Oil Life 100% appears on the screen

    The sound of chimes will be heard

  5. Verify the indicator has been reset by starting the engine

    Done!

3rd Generation (2016-2019)

The third generation is the last generation. In this generation, you can reset the oil life by accessing the cluster app. Here’s how to do it:

  • Turn on the ignition
  • Press the ◄ navigation button to enter the cluster app
  • Select INFO
  • Find the OIL LIFE menu by using the ▲▼ navigation button
  • Press and hold the ✓ button to execute the oil life reset

These instructions are based on the Buick LaCrosse owner’s manual. This procedure should apply to the first, second, and third generations of the Buick LaCrosse (2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 model years).
