Kia Optima: How To Reset Oil Service Light (2011-2020) – The Kia Optima, Magentis or Lotze is a D-segment passenger car produced by the South Korean manufacturer Kia Motors since 2001. It is a five-seater with transverse front-engine, and front-wheel drive offered only with a four-door sedan body.

The third-generation Optima was unveiled at the New York Auto Show in the spring of 2010. The Magentis name disappeared from the market, but in South Korea and China, the model was sold under name Kia K5.

Kia Optima: How To Reset Oil Service Light (2011-2020)

The service light will appear each time you turn on the ignition when your vehicle exceeds the specified service interval. You must adjust the service interval after performed maintenance on your vehicle. Depending on your vehicle model, here are a few ways to reset the oil light on 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 Kia Optima:

3rd Generation (TF; 2011-2013)

The third generation of Kia Optima was marketed from 2011 to 2013. In this older generation you can reset the service light as follows:

  • Place the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine
  • Press and hold the TRIP button until USER SETTINGS appears on the display
  • Select MAINTENANCE by using the TRIP button to scroll and press the RESET button to select the menu
  • Select ENGINE OIL
  • In this menu you can set an engine oil reminder at a specific interval

4th Generation (JF; 2014-2020)

Time needed: 7 minutes

This is the fourth generation introduced from 2014 to 2020. Similar to the previous generation, you can access service intervals through the User Settings menu. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Place the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine

    If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, press the ENGINE START/STOP button twice without pressing the brake pedal

  2. Go to the ⚙️ USER SETTINGS mode by pressing the ❐ MODE button repeatedly

    The button is located on the steering wheel

  3. Find and select SERVICE INTERVAL

    Use the navigation switch to scroll and press OK button to enter the menu

  4. Make sure you activate the service interval function by giving a check mark

    In this menu you can set a maintenance reminder at a specific interval by adjust the Time or Distance

  5. Use the navigation switch to change the digit value. Press the OK button to confirm the changes.

    Done!
