Kia Forte: How To Reset Service Light After Oil Change (2014-2021) – The Kia Forte is a medium-sized car produced by the Korean car manufacturer Kia Motors since 2008. This car offered in three different body types: sedan, coupé and the hatchback. The Forte is not marketed in Europe.

The engines available for the Asian market are the petrol-powered 1.6 16V from the four-cylinder Gamma engine family with four-valve per cylinder distribution. It delivers maximum power of 126 horsepower at 6,300 rpm for a maximum torque of 157 Nm at 4,300 rpm.

The service light will appear each time you turn on the ignition when your vehicle exceeds the specified service interval. You must adjust the service interval after performed maintenance on your vehicle. Depending on your vehicle model, here are a few ways to reset the oil light on 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 Kia Forte:

2nd Generation (YD; 2014-2018)

For this second generation model, you can reset the service required light through the cluster display. Here’s how to reset it:

  • Place the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine
  • Go to the ⚙️ USER SETTINGS mode by pressing the ❐ MODE button repeatedly
  • Select SERVICE INTERVAL by using the ▼ button
  • Make sure to activate the service interval function by select ON
  • In this menu you can set a maintenance reminder at a specific interval by adjust the Milage or Period
  • Use the ▼ button to change the digit value. Press the ⏎ button to confirm the changes.

3rd Generation (BD, 2019-2021)

Time needed: 7 minutes

Just like the previous generation, you can reset the service light via the cluster display but with a different button. Here’s how to reset it:

  1. Place the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine

    If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, press the ENGINE START/STOP button twice without pressing the brake pedal

  2. Go to the ⚙️ USER SETTINGS mode by pressing the ❐ MODE button repeatedly

    The button is located on the steering wheel

  3. Find and select SERVICE INTERVAL

    Use the navigation switch to scroll and press OK button to enter the menu

  4. Make sure you activate the service interval function by giving a check mark

    In this menu you can set a maintenance reminder at a specific interval by adjust the Time or Distance

  5. Use the navigation switch to change the digit value. Press the OK button to confirm the changes.

    Done!
