This means you must immediately perform maintenance services and oil change on your vehicle. Do not forget to reset the service interval afterward. Depending on your vehicle model, here are a few ways to reset the Oil Life Maintenance Light.

8th Generation (2006-2011)

The eighth generation of Honda Civic was marketed from 2006 to 2011. Here’s how to reset the engine oil life on the Honda Accord eighth generation. 

After turning on the ignition without starting the engine, press the Select/Reset knob repeatedly until the oil life indicator appears on the screen. Press and hold the knob until the oil life light begins to blink. Press and hold the knob again until the oil life percentage resets to 100%.

9th Generation (2012-2015)

The ninth generation of Honda accord was marketed from 2012 to 2015. There are two ways to reset the oil life in this generation. Depending on your vehicle type, here are how to reset the engine oil life on the Honda Civic ninth generation.

With Steering Control Button

Time needed: 7 minutes

Follow the steps below if your vehicle is equipped with multi-information display and control buttons on the steering wheel.

  1. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine

    If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, press the ENGINE START STOP button twice without pressing the brake pedal

  2. Press the MENU button

    The button is located on the steering

  3. Go to VEHICLE INFORMATION menu

    Use the + or – button to scroll and press the SOURCE button to select

  4. Select MAINTENANCE INFO

    The engine oil life will appears on the display

  5. Press the SOURCE button to enter the reset mode

    A confirmation message will appears on the display

  6. Select YES to execute the oil life reset

    Done!

With Cluster Button

  • Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
  • Press the Select/Reset knob (located on the instrument cluster) repeatedly until “Oil Life” appears on the screen
  • Press and hold the knob until the oil life light begins to be flashing
  • Press and hold the knob again until the oil life percentage resets to 100%

10th Generation (2016-2020)

The tenth generation is today’s latest models, this generation was introduced since 2016. There are two ways to reset the oil life in this generation. Here’s how to reset the engine oil life on the Honda Civic tenth generation.

With Steering Control Button

  • Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
  • Press the INFORMATION button (located on the steering) repeatedly until you see on the display
  • Press the ENTER button
  • Enter the Reset Mode by pressing the ENTER button for about 10 seconds
  • Select the maintenance item that you want to reset by using the navigation button
  • Press the ENTER button to execute maintenance reset

With Trip Button

  • Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
  • Press the TRIP knob (located on the instrument cluster) repeatedly until “Oil Life” appears on the screen
  • Press and hold the knob for about 10 seconds
  • Select the maintenance item that you want to reset by rotate the knob
  • Press and hold the knob to execute maintenance reset
