2006-2021 Ford S-Max Service Oil Light Reset Guide – The Ford S-MAX is a C-segment minivan produced by the US car manufacturer Ford since June 2006. It is a seven-seater minivan that sits between the Ford C-MAX and the second generation Ford Galaxy.

This means you must immediately perform oil change on your vehicle. Don’t forget to reset the oil minder system afterward. Depending on your vehicle model, here are a few ways to reset the oil life light.

1st Generation (2008-2012)

Time needed: 7 minutes

The first generation of Ford S-Max was marketed from 2006 to 2014. Here’s how to reset the engine oil life on the Ford S-Max first generation:

  1. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine

    If your vehicle has the keyless starting system, press the ENGINE START/STOP button once without pressing the brake pedal

  2. Depress the Brake and Accelerator pedals at the same time

    Fully press both pedals for about 25 seconds

  3. Keep holding both pedals until a message confirming that the reset is complete appears on the screen

    This message confirms that the reset procedure was completed correctly.

  4. Release the pedals and switch off the ignition

    Done!

2nd Generation (2015-2021)

The second generation is today’s latest models, this generation was introduced since 2015. Depending on your vehicle trim level, here are how to reset the engine oil life on the Ford S-Max second generation.

With Brake & Gas Pedal

Just like the previous generation, you can reset the oil by using the Gas and Brake pedals. Here’s how to do it:

After turning on the ignition without starting the engine, Depress the Brake and Gas pedals at the same time. Keep holding both pedals until a message confirming that the reset is complete appears on the screen. Release the pedals and switch off the ignition.

With Steering Control Button

Follow the steps below if your vehicle is equipped with multi-information display and control buttons on the steering wheel.

  • Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position
  • Find the SETTINGS menu by using the ▲▼ navigation button and press the OK button to select
  • Select VEHICLE
  • Select OIL LIFE RESET
  • Press and holds the OK button until “Reset Successful” appears on the screen
